POTOMAC – Today, Democratic congressional candidate for Maryland’s 6th District, David Trone, announced an endorsement from The Coalition of Asian Pacific American Democrats of Maryland (CAPAD-MD). He also announced endorsements from four key AAPI leaders: Delegate Kumar Barve (D-16), Democratic nominee for Delegate Lily Qi (D-15), Senator Susan Lee (D-16), and Bel Leong-Hong, Chair of the DNC AAPI Caucus.
The Coalition of Asian Pacific American Democrats of Maryland (CAPAD-MD), established in 1996, is a statewide Asian Pacific American Democratic Organization whose charter is recognized by the State of Maryland’s Democratic Party. The group encourages and promotes the education and participation of Asian Pacific Americans in affairs of the Democratic Party.
“David Trone has the full support of CAPAD-MD,” said Stan Tsai, Co-Chair of CAPAD-MD and Chung Pak, Senior Advisor of CAPAD-MD. “After getting to know David and looking at his impressive track record as an entrepreneur and philanthropist, we are confident that he will be a fantastic representative for the Asian Pacific American community. His willingness to meet with and understand the needs and concerns of our community gives us confidence that he will be a partner and community advocate.”
“As chair of the Environment and Transportation Committee, it’s important to me that we have someone in Congress who cares about environmental protection. I know we can count on David to fight for progress on climate change, clean air, clean water, and cleaning up the Chesapeake Bay,” said Delegate Kumar Barve (D-16).
“David understands the value of opportunities and has been exemplary in giving back and paying forward. Asian Americans would be well served by a representative who can work across the aisle to get things done while fighting the divisive agenda in national politics,” said Lily Qi, Democratic nominee for Delegate (D-15).
“By voting for Democratic nominee David Trone to the US Congress, we will move closer to electing a Democratic majority in the US House of Representatives,” said Senator Susan Lee (D-16).
“I am proud to endorse David Trone for Congress. David Trone is a principled leader who embraces our AAPI values of honesty, hard work, and integrity. David has shown that he is a community builder. His work with the ACLU on both criminal justice reform and fighting the Muslim ban shows his commitment to creating a just society for all groups. I am confident he will be a strong partner with the Asian American Pacific Islander community as we work to create a thriving environment for our community,” said Bel Leong-Hong, Chairwoman of the DNC AAPI Caucus.
“I am also happy to receive the support from key AAPI leaders in our community. I look forward to working with them on important issues like educational opportunities, job creation, and fighting the alarming reduction of H-1B visas by the Trump Administration,” said David Trone.
