Potomac, MD (February 27, 2018) – Democratic Congressional candidate David Trone today received the endorsement of Former Montgomery County Executive Doug Duncan. Duncan served three terms as Montgomery County’s top elected official, from 1994 to 2006
This is not the first time Duncan has endorsed in a Sixth Congressional District race. In the 2012 Democratic primary for the seat, State Senate Majority Leader Rob Garagiola had the backing of most of the party establishment. Duncan broke with the establishment and backed insurgent candidate John Delaney, who went on to win the nomination and was elected to Congress that year.
“David Trone started with nothing and built a business that has created over 6000 jobs, 500 of which are right here in Montgomery County. And for over two decades he has shown real leadership in this community with his support for local charities and progressive causes. With all of the dysfunction in Washington, we desperately need people in Congress who prioritize public service above all else. I know David Trone will do that – because he always has,” said Duncan.
“I couldn’t be more proud to have Doug’s endorsement. Montgomery County would not be what it is today without his leadership, and I know he will be a major asset to our team as we head into the primary on June 26th,” said Trone.
