POTOMAC – Today, David Trone, Democratic congressional candidate for Maryland’s 6th District, announced the endorsement of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Maryland.

AFSCME Maryland is our state affiliate of the national AFSCME, the country’s largest and fastest growing public services employee’s union. With working members in hundreds of different occupations and retirees across the country, AFSCME advocates for fairness in the workplace, excellence in public services, and prosperity and opportunity for all working families.

“Today we endorsed David Trone for Congress, for strong representation for working families in District six,” said Glen Middleton Executive Director of AFSCME Council 67 & Patrick Moran, President of AFSCME Maryland Council 3.

“I am honored to have the endorsement from an organization like AFSCME, which represents workers all across the 6th district,” said David Trone. “In Congress, I’ll proudly stand with AFSCME and fight back against any effort from President Trump and his allies to slash Social Security and Medicare in an effort to pay for their tax cut for the richest corporations. I’ll also be a vocal advocate for investments in our public sector workforce and worker safety. And the men and women of the 6th District can count on the fact that I’ll always push back on any effort to balance our budgets on the backs of working class families.”

Trone announces this endorsement following the endorsement of Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 500. David Trone is also endorsed by the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, Sierra Club, NEA Fund for Children and Public Education, MoCo Women, Jewish Democratic Council of America, Washington Jewish Week, Humane Society Legislative Fund, and the Coalition of Asian Pacific American Democrats of Maryland (CAPAC-MD).
